At Marlborough Law, we are passionate about supporting our local community—not only through legal services, but by being a part of the traditions and events that define life in towns like Hungerford. Last week, we had the honour of attending one of the most cherished local celebrations: Hocktide.

Our own Karen Salmon, a proud member of the Hungerford Chamber of Commerce, was invited to the Top Table at the Hocktide Lunch by Constable Julie Lloyd. In her speech, Julie kindly recognised the ongoing contribution we make through the Chamber, helping to support local business and community initiatives.

Karen was in great company, sharing the moment with Helen Simpson, Mayor of Hungerford, and Constable Julie Lloyd—a trio affectionately described as “The Three Witches.” While the nickname is playful, the sentiment behind it is meaningful: when our three organisations collaborate—the Chamber, the Town Council, and the Hocktide Court—we truly do make magic in Hungerford.

Hocktide is more than just a celebration. It’s a link to our shared history and an example of what makes this town unique. At Marlborough Law, we believe that being actively involved in such traditions is essential to understanding and serving our community. It’s through events like this that we strengthen relationships, celebrate our heritage, and demonstrate our commitment to being a friendly, approachable presence in West Berkshire.

We are proud to be part of a town that values history, connection, and community spirit. And we’re just as proud to play our part in ensuring Hungerford continues to thrive—not just in business or law, but in heart.
