Corporate Leases

Corporate Leases

If you are a landlord or a tenant, a Lease can be long and complicated document, listing your rights, as well as your legal responsibilities. You must also take into account any service charge apportionments, rights of way, or any other tenant rights which may be affected by your Lease.

If you wish to get out of your Lease, either as a tenant or a landlord, there should be an outlined route in the Lease. If not, there are statutory ways to leave. If you are a part of our Protect Your Business retainer plan, then this advice can be given when something major happens, or if you just had a question about the Lease.

There are two routes you can use to evict your commercial tenant. The first is to look at the Lease and see what terms it sets out for you to follow to evict. If this is poorly drafted, or is silent on eviction, then you will have to use the statutory route of giving notice, which can be long and complicated. We will be able to guide you towards a Lease that states its terms simply and firmly to help protect you and your business.
